During Fairtrade Fortnight 2009 Holy Trinity ran an event called ‘Chocolate Heaven’. Running on a Saturday morning, the activities included:
- A Fairtrade Fortnight Coffee Morning, with Fairtrade tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits
- Chocolate-covered snacks via a fairtrade chocolate fountain
- A fairtrade chocolate tasting competition
- A fairtrade quiz
- A fairtrade stall, stocking goods from Traidcraft
- Fairtrade chocolate-based activities for children, including making fairtrade chocolate krispies and cake-decorating with fairtrade chocolate.
The event also included a visit from two Ghanaian representatives of the Kuapa Kokoo cocoa farmers co-operative (who supply Divine Chocolate) explaining the benefits to their communities of being involved in fairtrade initiatives. Almost £500 in donations and sales of fairtrade products resulted from the event, some of the money being used to support Traidcraft projects in the developing world.
