Throughout the next three months we are giving time as a church to Jesus’ Beatitudes, his rather extraordinary ‘blessings’ in Matthew 5.3-10. We are studying them both through sermons in Sunday services and in midweek small groups.
The Church is called to be a community that reflects the character and nature of Jesus Christ to our wider society: A Christ centred community. But what does all this mean in practice? What might a Church like Holy Trinity actually be as well as do, in terms of its mission and programmes, to more fully reflect the character of Christ? Jesus’ teaching on the Beatitudes offers a compelling and practical route map as we grapple as a church with what it means for us to be ‘opened up and opened out’.
